How Bankruptcy Affects Spouse's Credit RatingYes bankruptcy does affect a spouses credit rating due to the fact that it is usually a joint account. When a person co-signs for a loan there is a “guarantee” that it will be paid back by both parties. So any nonpayment of a loan will reflect on both yours and your spouses credit report. This is not legal advice so we do ask that you speak with an attorney on these matters. |
