Opening Checking Account After BankruptcyFirst, try to avoid including any bank account you may have in a bankruptcy as this will place an inquiry on verifications systems such as ChexSystems which can cause a person going through a bankruptcy to have a hard time opening another bank account. Be sure to voice this concern to your attorney and see what they can do about this matter. Usually the verification system has a report from another bank that the person owes money and the person will end up having to contact the bank and ask them to request its removal. This situation can get really sticky. If this is not the case then opening another should be ok in most cases. In addition, maybe try smaller banks or credit unions that don’t use the verification system that has the inquiry on the one who cannot get an account opened. Of course this is opinion and one should consult an attorney on the matters at hand. Visit our other sponsors and link for more info. |
