Renting an Apartment with BAD CreditThere are several ways a person with bad credit can improve their chances of getting a landlord to say “yes”. These are not guaranteed but good idea to keep in mind if this is your situation. First, try to get a co-signer. Never hurts. However, the co-signer will need to have excellent credit as they are the ones saying that they will make sure the rent is paid as it would ruin THEIR credit if nothing was paid. Second, offer to pay the highest deposit amount allowed in the state. That will get the landlord’s attention. Third, you can offer to pay several months in advance. By paying 4+ months in advance, you basically help guarantee that they will have SOME less risk as opposed to just going month to month. Finally, you MAY very well be able to allow another person all together to sign your lease FOR you. This may be difficult for you to find, but its not out of the question. |
